Custom Plastics Machining

In 2007, M&R Engineering acquired R&B Plastics, a high-quality precision plastic machining supplier of CNC parts. Established in 1969, R&B Plastics has built an outstanding reputation for excellence and innovation in the custom CNC machining of plastic parts. This acquisition further expanded M&R Engineering’s capabilities allowing it to become a one-stop shop for existing customers of both companies. Delivering high-performing custom machined plastic parts means starting with quality plastic machining materials. That’s why we have fast and economical access to large quantities of today’s best materials. This allows us to meet short and long-run orders quickly and efficiently. We are AS9100 and ISO 9001 certified, and our materials come from suppliers who share our commitment to quality. We have vast experience in machining parts from acetal, acrylic, Delrin®, Nylon, PCTFE, PEEK, polycarbonate, PTFE, Semitron®, Techtron®, Torlon®, Ultem® and other plastic materials.

Why choose high precision CNC machining plastics over molding plastics?

High precision CNC plastic machining is perfect for the smaller lot, high tolerance parts. With CNC machining, there is no need to pay for extraordinarily high mold costs. Also, alteration costs are also much lower. We provide high precision CNC parts machined in days to satisfy your production needs, compared to weeks necessary to produce a new mold. High precision CNC Lathe and high precision CNC Mill machines are capable of holding tighter tolerances compared to the molding process. High precision CNC machining also allows for additional features like threads, undercuts, and various angles.

Why choose CNC precision plastic machining of units over 3D printing?

Compared to the 3D additive printing process, high precision CNC machining is a subtractive process. Currently, 3D printing has a limited selection of plastic materials. The most popular materials used in 3D printing include PLA, ABS, Polymax PLA, Wood, and Nylon. CNC precision plastic machining uses has many options including acetal, acrylic, Delrin®, Nylon, PCTFE, PEEK, polycarbonate, PTFE, Semitron®, Techtron®, Torlon®, and Ultem®. CNC milling and CNC turning also offer 15 times more accuracy of 0.001 inches compared to 0.016 inches in 3D printing. 3D printing is a quieter, less messy process that requires less programming and operating resources. Because of this, it is a good solution for odd-shaped, low tolerance, and low volume prototyping. Especially when material selection is not important. However, when it comes to high precision, high tolerance parts, CNC milling, and CNC turning are the superior options.
