The most popular materials used in 3D printing include PLA, ABS, Polymax PLA, Wood, Nylon as compared to acetal, acrylic, Delrin®, Nylon, PCTFE, PEEK, polycarbonate, PTFE, Semitron®, Techtron®, Torlon®, Ultem® used in precision CNC plastic machining. High precision plastic CNC milling and CNC turning also offer 15 times more accuracy of 0.001 inches compared to 0.016 inches in 3D printing. 3D printing is a quieter, less messy process that requires less programming and operating resources and is a good solution for odd-shaped low tolerance low volume prototyping when material selection is not important. However, when it comes to high precision, high tolerance metal parts, high precision CNC milling and high precision CNC turning are the best options by far.
